Village 14, Newton’s “14th” Village with over 3,000 posts and 40,000 comments has been totally re-vamped and re-launched yesterday according to SERPCOM the company that designs and manages the technical aspects of the popular Newton blog.  SERPCOM specializes in WordPress Blogging Platforms focusing on site promotion and Search Engine Optimization leveraging Social Media and other tools.

As the use of mobile devices and tablets grows rapidly, a chief concern was with website’s theme being “mobile friendly” know as “responsive” in the industry.  The old theme was developed prior to the explosion of hand-helds and was several years old, a lifetime in the online world.

The new site uses “Divi” a theme known for its responsiveness and modern appeal.  The theme is one of the most popular and modern of the new breed of WordPress “Theme Builders” available today.  Still, Elegant Themes of San Francisco, the developer of Divi promises a total revamp of the theme shortly.

The Village 14 Banner includes a “Paper Boy” holding a newspaper, a tribute to newspaper background shared by many of the bloggers and its founder, Greg Reibman.

The site has been moved to a new WordPress platform Newton.Business a website network created to manage, host and support Newton related websites.

The site retains the traditional City of Newton Colors, orange and black apparently based on the Newton Tigers, a local sports team.
