A Snow Emergency will be in effect in the City of Newton starting at midnight tonight, Saturday, January 19. It is anticipated to be lifted by mid-morning on Sunday, but we can’t make the decision at this time because the forecast is still uncertain.
All cars need to be moved from roads and municipal parking lots by midnight, so plows can clear the expected snow.
Updated information about when the snow emergency will be lifted will be online tomorrow morning at newtonma.gov.
In addition, there is no safe skating at Crystal Lake, Ware’s Cove in Auburndale and Bullough’s Pond in Newtonville. Skating is prohibited at these areas.
