To the family and friends of the Newtonian who lost his life on Saturday after being rescued from a tragic fire at his home on Dec. 13, I personally express my condolences and speak for the people of Newton when I say our thoughts are with you.

The Newton Firefighters, Coastal Ambulance personnel and Newton Police who responded to this horrific scene have my gratitude.

On 12/13, the #NewtonMA Fire Department rescued an older adult from a two-alarm fire. Tragically, that man has succumbed to his injuries.
