Officers Recover Firearm from Teenager on eve of National Gun Violence Awareness Weekend

On 06/06/2024, our patrol officers responded to the home of a teenager in Newton after receiving a report the child was in possession of a handgun.

On arrival to the home, officers recovered a handgun with a 17-round magazine with a plus 2 attachment and a 31 with plus 2 extensions round 9mm magazine. In addition, over 50 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

This weekend is National Gun Violence Awareness Weekend, it is a time to honor and remember victims and survivors of gun violence.

We want to commend our officers Sergeant Selig, Officer Pellegrini and Officer Colella for their great work.
